2011 Men's Outdoor Track and Field All-GLVC
INDIANAPOLIS- The Greyhound track and field teams placed 25 student-athletes on the 2011 outdoor track & field All-GLVC squads.
Angelique McNeal and
Robert Gardner headlined the teams, earning Female and Male Athlete of the Year honors for the outdoor season.
McNeal was named the GLVC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year following her performance in Rolla, Mo. after posting a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, in addition to anchoring UIndy's winning 4x100-meter relay team and running the first leg of the victorious 4x400-meter relay team. McNeal posted a time of 11.81 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 24.51 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Gardner won the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash at the GLVC Outdoor Championships and also anchored the Greyhounds' first-place 4x100-meter relay team and 4x400-meter relay team. In the 200-meter dash, Gardner posted a winning time of 21.47 seconds and he won the 400-meter dash in a time of 47.16 seconds.
Seven Greyhounds made the women's outdoor All-GLVC first team, with
Delta Martin,
Kierra Allen,
Kenya Owens,
Haley Miller, Valorie Wagner and
Heather Rourk joining McNeal on the first team.
Jordan VanDyke,
Katy Watson,
Shirah Bennett,
Courtney Kuzmicz and
Isabelle May all earned second team All-GLVC accolades.
For the men,
Mark Martinez,
Carl Smith,
Jermel Kindred,
Nick Brattain,
Blaze Hurley,
Matt Royer,
Jerel Flournoy and
Skyler Mattox all joined Gardner on the All-GLVC first team, while
Benjamin Bertoli,
Zach Little,
Cory Fornal and
Randall Hudi were named to the All-GLVC second team.
In addition to the All-GLVC honors, UIndy head coach
Scott Fangman also earned both the men's and women's Coach of the Year awards.
