GAINSVILLE, Fla.- A group of UIndy track and field athletes competed Saturday at the Tom Jones Memorial Classic, in the squad's final action prior to the GLVC Championships.

Matt Royer and Ryan Smith opened the meet for UIndy with the men's hammer throw. Royer took second with an NCAA Automatic Qualifying mark of 64.84 meters. Smith took fourth, with a throw of 56.80 meters, good for an NCAA provisional mark.

Royer also improved upon his NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the shot put, with a toss of 17.74 meters to take second in the field.

The men's 4x400 meter relay squad also improved upon its NCAA provisional qualifying time, with a mark of 3:11.11. The time is currently sixth-best in NCAA Division II.

Next up for UIndy is the GLVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Greyhound men are the defending GLVC Outdoor champions, while the women's squad was the GLVC runner up last year.
