Yellow Jackets sting Greyhounds

Box Score

CEDARVILLE, Ohio- The UIndy men's soccer team took a 4-1 loss at Cedarville Saturday evening in Ohio.

The host Yellow Jackets took a 1-0 lead over the Greyhounds (0-2) at the 32:32 mark, with Christian Alexander tracking a long ball and finishing it in the box. Cedarville would take that 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

Freshman Reid Strain tallied the equalizer just before the 52-minute mark, on a header off of a cross from Brett Greubel. The goal was the first of the year and of his collegiate career for Strain.

After a delay in the contest due to lightning in the area, Cedarville regained the lead at the 63rd minute on a penalty kick score by Steve Ellis. The Yellow Jackets added another goal just before the 70-minute mark on a shot from the top of the box by Alexander, good for his second score of the match.

Cedarville closed out the match with its fourth goal in with about two minutes to play to close the score out at 4-1.

Strain led the Greyhounds with two shots on the night. Andrew Verhonik was assessed the loss in goal, making four saves in his complete game effort.

UIndy hosts Ohio Dominican Wednesday in its final contest prior to heading into the GLVC portion of its schedule. First kick with the GLIAC-foe Panthers is slated for 6 p.m. from Key Stadium.
