GLVC SHOWDOWN
In a match-up between the league's only 2-0 teams, UIndy makes its longest road trip of the season to face the Missouri S&T Miners this weekend.  Saturday's winner will take over sole possession of first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings, as well as gain a leg-up on the road to the 2012 GLVC championship.

ABOUT MISSOURI S&T
Located some 350 miles from Indianapolis, the Miners make their home in Rolla, Mo.  S&T owns a spotless 4-0 record on the season, boosted by convincing conference wins versus McKendree and Kentucky Wesleyan.

Led by third-year head coach David Brown, the Miners pace the GLVC in a number of categories, including scoring offense (40.0 ppg), total offense (451.2 ypg), scoring defense (14.0 ppg) and total defense (232.2 ypg).

HOUNDS vs. MINERS
Saturday marks the first-ever meeting between UIndy and S&T.  In fact, the Greyhounds' 2012 schedule features just three teams they have previously faced  -- Ashland (week 1), Saint Joseph's (week 6) and Kentucky Wesleyan (week 8) -- with all other opponents having no history with the Hounds prior to this season.

PASSING FANCY
The Miners rank 12th in Division II with an average of 327 passing yards per game.  However, waiting for them Saturday will be a Greyhound defense that allows just 147 passing yards per contest, good for 13th in D-II.

LAST TIME OUT
The Greyhounds received two TDs each from Mar'quone Edmonds and Klay Fiechter in last Saturday's 45-15 win versus McKendree in the 2012 home opener.

With the game tied 7-7 late in the second quarter, UIndy sandwiched halftime with a pair of touchdowns to take control of the game.  The Hounds went on to outscore McK 38-7 over the game's final 31 minutes, scoring on six of their final seven possessions.

TOP DOG
Edmonds delivered the highlight of last's week win when the senior wideout took a screen pass 12 yards to the house at the end of the first half.  The receiving touchdown was the 27th of his career, breaking one of the longest-held school marks in any of UIndy's 21 varsity sports.  The previous record of 26 career touchdown catches was set by UIndy Hall-of-Famer Dick Nyers back in 1955.

Edmonds finished the game with 10 catches for 169 yards and two scores.  His yardage total marked a new personal best, surpassing his previous high by a single yard.

OFFENSIVE POTW
Edmonds' effort netted him Offensive Player of the Week accolades from the GLVC.  He is the second Greyhound in as many weeks to earn a weekly award from the conference, as junior Klay Fiechter was named the GLVC's top special-teams performer last week.

PER-FIECHT
The aforementioned Fiechter continued his stellar season last week with a career- and GLVC-high 138 rushing yards on 23 carries versus McKendree.  The Bluffton, Ind., native has amassed at least 92 yards on the ground in all four games this season, with his 113.8 ypg average good for tops in the GLVC and 20th in the nation.  Add in his receiving & return yards and Fiechter ranks 10th in the nation in all-purpose yardage (181.3 ypg).

In addition, Fiechter's 33.0 yards per punt return leads all of Division II, while his eight touchdowns are twice as many as the nearest GLVC competitor.

FOUR SCORE
Four different Greyhounds scored touchdowns last week -- the most since a Oct. 1 meeting versus Findlay last season.  Edmonds and Fiechter each scored a pair of TDs, while sophomore Matt Ripp and senior Will Brucker both crossed the goal line for the first time in 2012.

Ripp reached the end zone after breaking away on a 47-yard jaunt, while Brucker cashed in from 12 yards out.  Both scores came in the fourth quarter, with Brucker's representing his first collegiate TD.

MILLER TIME
Sophomore kicker Scott Miller connected on a 22-yard field goal last week, good for his 17th career FG.  That total puts him tied for sixth in the UIndy annals, four shy of the fifth-place spot.

As for PATs, Miller has made all 15 extra-point attempts this season.  Quincy is the only other GLVC team still perfect on extra points this year, though the Hawks have scored just six touchdowns to date.

BLOCK PARTY 2.0
The Greyhounds' special teams came up with their second blocked kick in as many weeks last Saturday when Luke Harbers broke through the middle of the McKendree line and swatted a Bearcat punt.  Though the punt still went forward, the result was a paltry five-yard boot, giving the Hounds excellent field position at the McK 33-yard line.

The play came a week after Josh Bass blocked a 30-yard field goal attempt in the Hounds' week-three win at Quincy.

GANG TACKLE
Getting the ball past the Greyhound linebacking corps is no easy task this season, as all three of the starters rank in the conference's top six in tackles per game.  Senior Max Davis leads the way with 11.5 stops per contest, good for second in the GLVC.  Junior Todd Hacker (10.8 tpg) and senior Tyler Peterman (9.2 tpg) rank third and sixth, respectively.

Davis is well on his way to becoming just the sixth-ever Greyhound to compile three 100-tackle seasons.  The Cathedral High School product has amassed double-digit tackles in seven straight games dating back to last season, recording 87 total stops in that span.
