FLORENCE, Ala. – After being rained out yesterday, the No. 7 UIndy softball team (4-4) finaly took the field at the North Alabama Invitational Saturday, falling to in-region Trevecca Nazarene, 6-4, before blanking West Florida, 3-0.

vs. TREVECCA NAZARENE
After the Trojans (4-2) hung to runs on the board in the bottom of the first, the Greyhounds answered with a two-spot of their own in the top of the second.  UIndy had three hits in the inning, with Samantha Krcelich (single) and Krysta Bradford (double) each picking up an RBI.

The teams again traded two-run innings later in the game, with the Hounds' two tallies in the fifth knotting it at four.  Three straight singles started the frame, with Casey Williamson's base knock plating junior Taylor Russell, followed by an RBI groundout from Alexa Alfaro to score Talyor's sister Sydney with the tying run.

With the score still 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth, Trevecca leadoff hitter Alex Richardson delivered a two-out single to score a pair of big runs.  The clutch hit would prove to be the game winner, as Trojan starter Haley Fagan pitched around a walk to strike out the side in the seventh.

Sydney Russell had a double, a single and a walk from the two-hole to lead the UIndy offense.  Senior Cori Eckerle had her first career triple in the fourth inning.

vs. WEST FLORIDA
Sophomore pitcher Morgan Foley bounced back from an abbreviated outing in game one, mowing through the Argonaut lineup with striking out 11 batters while surrendering just one hit.  WFU's only base hit was a single up the middle in the sixth inning, ensuring her sixth career start of allowing one hit or less.

Meanwhile, Taylor Russell provided all the offense Foley would need on the very first Greyhound plate appearance as the St. Charles, Ill., native led off the bottom of the first with a homer to left-centerfield.

The Hounds also tallied single runs in the third and fifth frames.  Sophomore Jenny Thompson's second of three walks on the day came with the bases loaded in the third, while senior Alexa Alfaro delivered an RBI double in the fifth.

Williamson scored on both of the aforementioned plays.  She finished with a double, a walk and two stolen bases.

Up next for UIndy is a pair of road doubleheaders, starting with a twin bill at in-region Ohio Valley Saturday, Mar. 1.
