Senior Krysta Bradford
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The UIndy softball team opened their Spring Break with a split at the Rebel Spring Games Tuesday, held in Winter Haven, Fla.  The Greyhounds (5-5) finished on both ends of a 3-2 final score, topping Lees-McRae by a single run before falling to No. 5 Augustana by the same margin.

vs. LEES-McRAE
With the score tied a 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth, senior Krysta Bradford sent a hard-hit ball past the second baseman and into right, plating senior Alexa Alfaro and sophomore Jenny Thompson with the tying and go-ahead runs.

UIndy's first run came on a double steal in the first inning with Jessica Vleck touching the plate as Alfaro stole second.

Sophomore  starter Morgan Foley moved to 3-3 after fanning 11 batters in 6 1/3 innings of work.  Senior Morgan Lewis eventually finished the game to earn her first save as a Hound.

vs. #5 AUGUSTANA
UIndy had the tying run in scoring position with one out in the seventh, but the Hounds stranded pinch-runner Katie Kelly at second base.  Senior Cori Eckerle led off the frame with a single, then gave way to Kelly, who was quickly sacrificed to second.  Two groundouts followed, however, sealing the one-run win for the Vikings (12-2).

Lewis (2-2) took the loss in the circle, surrendering four hits and three walks.  She struck out eight batters in six innings and only one of three runs allowed was earned.

Samantha Krcelich and Sydney Russell scored the Greyhounds' runs.  Krcelich was hit by a pitch in the third and was later driven in by a bases-loaded walk by Cassie Reed.  Russell led off the fifth with a single and eventually came around on an illegal pitch.

UIndy continues play in the Sunshine State with two more games tomorrow.  Both games will start before lunch, as the Hunds face St. Cloud State at 9 a.m. and Concordia-St. Paul at 11.
