Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The UIndy softball team (13-7, 6-2 GLVC) trading wins with Bellarmine Sunday afternoon, taking game one 5-2 and dropping the capper 6-1.  Game one's result marked the first conference loss for the Knights this season, snapping their 12-game winning streak.

GAME 1
Bellarmine (18-6, 11-1) came into the day with a perfect 10-0 mark in conference play, but UIndy jumped on the Knights with three runs in the first and two in the second.  The Hounds kick-started their scoring with some small ball but finished it with power; an Erika Goodwin walk, a Sydney Russell sac bunt and a Taylor Russell single plated the first run, while two-run homers from Jenny Thompson and Sydney Russell followed.  Thompson's first-inning bomb was her second in as many days, while Russell's homer with two outs in the second chased Bellarmine starter Ally Foster (6-3).

UIndy's starter needed no such help, however, as sophomore Morgan Foley (9-4) went the distance, allowing just one hit while striking out 14.  The Knights' only scoring came on a two-run homer by sophomore Hannah Daunhauer in the fourth inning.  Both runs were unearned runs.

Thompson, both Russells, and Tayler Weck each had a pair of hits.  All nine Greyhound hitters had at least a hit or a walk.

GAME 2
Thanks to an RBI single by Krysta Bradford, the Hounds held a 1-0 lead through 2 ½ innings, but Bellarmine's three-run third proved too much to overcome.  UIndy managed two base runners in the fourth and three in the seventh but would not score again.

Senior Morgan Lewis (4-3) was saddled with the loss.  The Indianapolis native allowed three earned runs and four overall before being pulled after giving up a single to the leadoff hitter in the fourth.

Freshman Katie Kelly had a single in each of her final two at bats.  She finished the day 3-for-6 to raise her average to .333.

UIndy travels to Saint Joseph's for a mid-week match-up with the Pumas.  First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
