INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis track & field teams had a successful start to the 2018-19 indoor season, hosting the UIndy Season Opener meet at the Athletics and Recreation Center. The Greyhounds combined to post seven NCAA provisional marks as well matching a school record.

In her first collegiate meet, freshman
Brittney Clark cleared a height of 3.57 meters to not only hit an NCAAÂ provisional mark but also tie the school record set just last year by teammate
Kylie Falcone.

Led by seniors
Katie Monk and
Austin Hogan, the Greyhounds were dominate in the throwing ring. Both student-athletes notched a pair of NCAA provos in winning the shot put and the weight throw events.

Hogan set a personal record with a 17.68-meter provisional toss in the shot. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds claimed each of the top six spots in the event, including runner-up
Keeton Adams and his PR and provo mark of 16.65 meters.

Monk opened her final indoor season with provo marks of 19.29m and 15.40m in the weight and shot, respectively.
Hilary Paxson also made a big impression, as the Southern Indiana transfer hit a PR with a 18.90-meter performance in the weight throw, placing her second all-time in the UIndy annals.

High jumpers
Seth Ragan and
DeAndre Bluitt each cleared 1.92 meters, with the latter winning the event.

The Hounds also picked up wins on the track, with
Keri Ertel winning the women's 60-meter hurdles (9.23) and
Taylor Kleyn taking the men's mile (4:26.29). Freshman
Mary Watts won the women's 400 in her very first collegiate meet (59.78), while also placing second in the 200 (26.38).

Taylor Strnad (high jump) and
Kirsti Oswalt (long jump) each notched runner-up finishes, while
Sam Bokodi and
Dallas Ford took second and third, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds have hosting duties scheduled next weekend as well, as the UIndy Winter Break meet is set for Friday, Dec. 7. The same day Grand Valley State University will host their Holiday Open.
