GRAND LAKE, Colo. - Despite being idle last week, the UIndy women's lacrosse team has moved up to No. 9 in the latest IWLCA poll. The Greyhounds stay put at ninth in the latest Nike/US Lacrosse rankings.Â
The Greyhounds are 5-1 this season with two wins over ranked opponents, including a 12-11 triumph against then-ninth Regis before controlling No. 21 McKendree nine days ago at Key Stadium. The only loss came to No. 3 Lindenwood in the season opener.Â
Lauryn Hardoy paces the Hounds in the points column with 25, including 13 goals and 12 helpers. Hardoy tied the program record against McKendree with five assists in the win. In the scoring column,
Delaney Davidson has a team-high 19 goals, with 16 coming in the past contests. Hardoy's 12 assists ranked 45th in the country, and at 2.00 per game, she ranked 28th.
Defensively, the Hounds have been one of the best in the country.
Peyton Romig has won 69 draw controls through six games, and her 11.50 per-game mark is second in Division II. The team is allowing just 7.67 goals per contest, as well, which ranks 11th in the nation. As a team, the Hounds are picking up 21.17 ground balls per game, good for 37th in the country.Â
UIndy gets back to action this Sunday at Key Stadium when the Hounds host Davenport for an in-conference battle. The Panthers are 2-2 this season and will play McKendree before coming to the Circle City.
