INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's lacrosse team has been chosen to repeat as Great Lakes Valley Conference champions, the league announced on Thursday. The Greyhounds finished second during the regular season in 2018 before defeating Young Harris in the GLVC title game at Key Stadium.
Â
The coaches also selected the Hounds to win the conference last year in the league's first season sponsoring men's lacrosse.
Â
UIndy received five first-place votes among the seven teams, while newcomer Rockhurst earned the remaining two. Young Harris weighs in third, with Maryville, Alabama Huntsville, and Montevallo finishing within a point of each other. Shorter, who failed to win a league game in 2018, has been picked to finish seventh.
Â
The Greyhounds return a host of All-GLVC selections, including
Austin Barnett,
Max Gerhardt,
Shawn Kimble,
Parker Kump, and Matt Shoeneck. Kump has scored 105 goals in three seasons as a Hound, while Gerhardt has scooped up 105 ground balls and caused 45 turnovers. Kimble is nearing 100 career points at UIndy, as he sits at 96.
Â
Head coach
Greg Stocks – who began the men's lacrosse program at UIndy in 2016 – will enter his fourth season on the Greyhound sideline.
