PERRY, N.Y. - For the third straight season, the UIndy men's lacrosse team will begin the year in the USILA top 20. The Greyhounds have been tabbed the preseason No. 20, per the coaches' poll, a couple weeks after being the 20th-ranked in the U.S. Lacrosse Magazine poll.Â
Just last week, the Hounds were chosen to repeat as GLVC champions after claiming the inaugural crown in 2018 at Key Stadium.Â
UIndy returns a group of All-GLVC selections, including
Austin Barnett,
Max Gerhardt,
Shawn Kimble,
Parker Kump, and
Matt Schoeneck. Kump has scored 105 goals in three seasons as a Hound, while Gerhardt has scooped up 105 ground balls and caused 45 turnovers. Kimble is nearing 100 career points at UIndy, as he sits at 96.
The Hounds have five top-20 squads on the schedule for the 2019 campaign, including No. 3 Seton Hill, No. 10 Belmont Abbey, No. 12 Mercyhurst, No. 14 Limestone, and No. 19 Lake Erie. Last season, the Greyhounds downed Limestone in the regular season finale, 11-10.Â
Head coach
Greg Stocks returns for his fourth season, and looks to build on the program's first 10-win season.
