Men's Soccer Opens Championship Weekend with Community Engagement

PITTSBURGH- In its first trip to the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championships in program history, the Greyhound men's soccer program opened its trip to the Steel City with some community engagement Tuesday morning.

The Greyhounds made a trip to the Urban Pathways K-5 Charter School to kick off their day, spending time reading to and with third and fifth graders.

"It's awesome that we were able to come here and give back," senior captain Ben Rohder said. "It really puts the whole experience in perspective. We know we are here to play soccer, but there's definitely more to life."

UIndy's student-athletes were also able to provide some NCAA Division II gifts to the students at the PIttsburgh charter school, and sign some autographs for their new fans.  The students will have the opportunity to attend  the weekend's matches as a part of the NCAA's work in the city.

Kick off for UIndy's historic National semifinal match is slated for 5 p.m. Thursday from Highmark Stadium. The Hounds will be taking on top-seeded California State LA in their semifinal match.
