INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy track & field teams competed at three meets this weekend, including the UIndy Team Invitational at the Athletics and Recreation Center Saturday. After some record setting performances Friday, the program recognized its senior student-athletes Saturday at the ARC.

GVSU BIG MEET (Allendale, Mich.)
The weekend's action started off at Grand Valley State Friday with the Greyhound distance runners posting some fast times. Sophomore
Lauren Bailey headlined the group, as she shattered her own school record in the 5000 meters. Her time of 16:55.44 bested the old mark by a full 10 seconds, as Bailey becomes the first-ever Greyhound woman to go sub-17 in the 5K.

Other Hounds that hit PRs at Grand Valley included senior
Mickayla Wenzel in the mile (5:00.56) and freshman
Nathan Herbst in the 5K (15:21.07).

HOOSIER HILLS (Bloomington, Ind.)
With the distance runners traveling north, the throwers and hurdlers headed south Friday to Indiana University. Though they went in opposite directions, the southbound bunch also set a school record as senior
Katie Monk once again surpassed her won mark in the shot put. The Churabusco, Ind., product unleashed a throw of 15.72 meters, moving her up to fourth in the Division II rankings.

Monk went on to surpass the 20-meter mark in the weight throw, placing fifth versus a mostly-DI field with a throw of 20.01 meters. Teammate
Hilary Paxson took seventh with a 18.91-metere throw.

Austin Hogan won the men's weight, topping the best throwers from IU, Notre Dame and Louisville, among others, with a 19.39-meter toss. He also took fourth in the shot put (17.13), while
Keeton Adams (16.39) placed seventh.

On the track,
Dallas Ford finished third in the 60-metere hurdles with a PR of 8.30 seconds.

UINDY TEAM INVITATIONAL (Indianapolis)
The weekend ended with more PRs for the Hounds. After
honoring their seniors prior to the meet, Hogan busted out not one, but two personal records in the ARC. The Fishers, Ind., product hit for an even 18.00 meters to up his provisional mark and take first place in the shot put, then recorded a 20.11-meter toss in the weight throw to take first among the collegian competitors. Hogan now ranks eighth in DII in both events.

DeAndre Bluitt won the high jump,
Brady Walden took second in both the 200 and the long jump, and
Kieffer Vittetow placed fourth in the mile with a PR of 4:29.10.

The UIndy women had a number of event wins, including freshman
Mary Watts in the 400 and
Keri Ertel in the 60-meter hurdles.
Taylor Strnad won the high jump, edging teammate
Deju Miller by .01 meters, and freshman
Brittney Clark continue her hot streak with a win in the pole vault.

Monk bested all collegians in both the shot put and the weight throw. Sophomore
Katrinia Hopkins hit a PR with a 17.06-meter mark in the weight.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds have just one more weekend of competition before the conference championships. UIndy is scheduled to compete at both the Ohio State Buckeye Tune-up (Feb. 15) and the DePauw Tiger Classic (Feb. 16) next weekend.
