Hounds Take Second at Parkside Invite

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Led by top-10 finishes by the Carroll brothers, the UIndy men's golf team (299-291) secured runner-up honors at the Parkside Spring Invitational, held Sunday and Monday at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ind.

Freshman Cam Carroll (78-69) notched his first career top-five finish, using a second-round 69 to vault into a share of fifth place among the mostly-Midwest-Region field of 83 golfers and 12 teams. His older brother Ian Carroll (73-75) finished a single stroke behind at +4, good for seventh place.

Both were topped by medalist James Ian (71-72) of Bellarmine, who took medalist honors at -1, leading the Knights (295-292) to the team title by three strokes.

Other Greyhounds in a hunt included sophomore Oliver Mast (76-73) and junior Spencer Klimek (75-74), who both finished at +5 to share 12th position. Junior Erik Edwards (75-76) rounded out the UIndy lineup players with a seven-over, 21st-place finish.

Seven other Hounds made the short trip down I-65 to compete as individuals. Freshmen Kyle Wensel (76-75) and John Roder (78-73) led the group, matching Edwards' total to share 21st. Meanwhile, senior Reid Lorey (81-73) carded a second-round 73 to move up to 43rd.
