MUNCIE, Ind. – The UIndy track & field teams did battle with a number of Division I programs at the Ball State Challenge this weekend, held at the Briner Sports Complex in Muncie, Ind., Friday and Saturday. The Greyhounds combined for eight event titles and a handful of personal records.

The Hounds swept the men's throwing events, as
Austin Hogan won the hammer, discus and shot put, while fellow-senior
Trace Oswalt took first in the javelin. Hogan improved his provisional mark in the shot with an outdoor PR of 18.01 meters. Junior
AJ Murphy also set a PR in the shot with a heave of 16.75 meters, good for fourth place.

Katie Monk placed first in the women's shot put (15.11) while taking fourth place in both the discus (44.37) and hammer throw (53.83). She edged teammate
Hilary Paxson in the latter event, as Paxson's 52.14-meter toss secured fifth.

DeAndre Bluitt cleared the two-meter mark in the high jump for the first time this season. He won the event with 2.00-meter leap, while sophomore
Chandler Martin took second with a PR-tying 1.90-meter jump.

Brady Walden continued to improve his mark in the long jump, hitting 7.00 meters to finish third, just ahead of Oswalt's fourth-place mark of 6.92 meters. Sophomore
Kylie Falcone led the UIndy women's pole vaulter, placing second with a mark of 3.65 meters.

On the track, sophomore
Dallas Ford won the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.70 seconds, while also setting a PR of 14.85 in a fourth-place finish in the 110 hurdles. Senior
Keri Ertel took second in the women's 400 hurdles with a time of 1:01.98.

The men's 4x400 relay team of Ford,
Alexander Brown-Baez,
Brian Sales and
Allen Wright combined for a winning time of 3:18.54, its fastest of the season.

UP NEXT
The Little State Championships are on deck for the Hounds. The annual meet, which features all of Indiana's non-DI teams, will take place Saturday, April 20 in Marion, Ind.
