Track & Field Takes “Last Chance” Before Nationals

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The UIndy track & field had a busy week, traveling to three "last chance" meets ahead of the upcoming NCAA DII Championships. The Greyhounds' best throwers competed at both Grand Valley State University and Hillsdale College, a distance contingent went to North Central College, while a handful of other UIndy hopeful joined the throwers at Hillsdale.

The biggest mark came from senior thrower Hilary Paxson. The Liberty Center, Ind., native won the women's hammer throw at Grand Valley with a toss of 58.86 meters, setting a new PR and improving her NCAA provisional standing. She now ranks sixth in Division II in the event.

Two Greyhounds hit their first provo of the season. Brittney Clark hit a provo in winning the women's pole vault at Hillsdale, setting an outdoor PR by clearing 3.76 meters, while Mickayla Wenzel's winning time of 4:30.60 in the 1500 at North Central set PR and notched a provo.

Other event winners included AJ Murphy in the men's shot put at Grand Valley (16.28), Austin Hogan taking the discus at both GV (54.37) and Hillsdale (55.61) and Katie Monk winning the women's shot at GV (15.03). Click the links above for complete results.
