TOLEDO, Ohio – The UIndy volleyball team competed in its lone exhibition contest of the preseason on Saturday, dropping a four-setter to D-I Toledo University at Savage Arena. The Greyhounds also snagged a victory in the fifth set, which served solely as more game reps.

UIndy snuck by the Rockets in the opening frame, 25-23, before Toledo earned the final three set wins.

Taylor Jacquay paced the Greyhounds with eight kills, including three in the first and third sets. The junior also scooped up five digs on the day. Senior
Julia Kruzan posted six kills herself, while
Katie Furlong and
Kyra Simmons tallied four apiece.

Defensively,
MaKenna Barnhart recorded 15 digs the libero in three sets, totaling 21 overall in the match. Senior
Jena Davis recorded 14 digs on the day, including 11 in the third set as the libero. UIndy had just three total blocks against Toledo, with Furlong recording the lone solo stop.

Elizabeth Eads, along with Jacquay and
Emma Jones, each tallied a block assist.

Furlong and
Gillian Santana shared the setting duties on Saturday, as the duo combined for 27 assists. Davis also had a pair of helpers in the loss.

The Greyhounds kick off the regular season on September 6 in Cedarville, Ohio. UIndy will battle national tournament mainstay Anderson University, while also taking on Northwood University and host Cedarville University.
