Men's Soccer Brings in Three Newcomers for 2020

INDIANAPOLIS – Coming off a National Semifinal appearance just last month, the UIndy men's soccer program is already preparing for the 2020 season. The Greyhounds have added three newcomers to join the freshmen duo of David Pham and Eli Dulle next season.

TseliosMichael Tselios comes to UIndy all the way from Greece, joining goalkeeper Dimitios Karousos as the two Greek players on the current roster. Tselios was a member of the AEK FC U19 team each of their last two seasons, making 40 total appearances scoring six goals while dishing out 15 assists. He took part in the UEFA Youth League during the 2018-19 season, playing against Ajax, Bayern Munich, and Benfica. Tselios made six appearances while part of the U18 Greek National Team.

Head coach John Higgins on Tselios, "Michael comes to us highly recommended from Greece. Played at a really high club level that will translate into him being an impact player immediately. He will do really well playing as part of a front two and creating for others."

JokicVlad Jokic returns back to the Indianapolis area after spending the last two seasons at D-I Nebraska Omaha. The Center Grove graduate redshirted his freshman year with the Mavericks, coming back this past season to play 15 games making starts in three of those contests. Jokic scored his first collegiate goal against UNLV and tied a team-best two assists in one game in their win over Air Force.

Higgins: "Vlad has great technical ability to help hold it up for us and special 1v1 attacking ability will make him a goal scoring threat in our league. He is coming to UIndy with something to prove and I have no doubt our environment will get the best out of him."

RainwaterCole Rainwater is the second D-I transfer to come to UIndy after being only one of two players to play all 18 games for Valparaiso in 2019. The Lake Central graduate scored three goals last season for the Crusaders, his first one coming in just his second collegiate game in an 8-2 win at home. Rainwater played two seasons of soccer in high school while playing four seasons of football for the Indians. During his time on the soccer field, Rainwater earned All-State, All-District, and All-Conference honors while taking home the Rookie of the Year award as a freshman and Offensive MVP as a sophomore.

"Cole is an honest and hardworking player with high end physical and technical attributes fit the 8 position perfectly for us. He is a great character kid and will fit in perfectly to our group."

Tselios, Jokic, and Rainwater will join the Hounds this semester.
