GRAND VALLEY BIG MEET
UIndy's top distance runners headed north to Allendale, Mich., in what proved to be a very productive trip.
Â
Junior
Berenice Cleyet-Merle outran everyone Friday in the women's 800 meter, again breaking her own school record in the process. Her winning time of 2:06.80 was good for an NCAA automatic qualifier while shaving nearly seven seconds off her own program benchmark. She now ranks No. 1 in all of Division II in the event.
Â
Cleyet-Merle returned on Saturday to help the women's distance medley relay team set another school mark. She joined
Mary Watts,
Yailene Leon and
Lauren Bailey to post a time of 11:42.87, shattering the previous UIndy record by 32 seconds. The performance was good for fifth at the meet and eighth in the country to date. Fun fact: 10 of Division II's 15 fastest women's DMR times of the season were posted at Grand Valley this weekend.
Â
Meanwhile, Bailey continued to make the most of her meet, setting a PR and hitting a provisional mark in the women's mile Friday. She notched a time of 4:55.75 to place seventh overall.
Â
Other Greyhound PRs included
Kelsey Dugger (5K, 18:59.54),
Ben Nagel (800, 1:55.51),
Nathan Herbst (5K, 14:57.77) and
Chris Switzer (5K, 15:03.07).

IU HOOSIER HILLS
UIndy sent sprinters and hurlders down to Bloomingon, Ind., Friday to face some stout DI competition. All five Hounds that made the trek earned spots in their respective finals.
Â
Sheniya Brown, UIndy's record holder in the 60-meter dash, posted a 7.81 in the 60 prelims and an even-faster 7.79 in the finals to take fourth place. She was joined in the finals by teammate
Brooke Green, who took eighth at 7.95 seconds – a tick off her prelim time of 7.94.
Â
Meanwhile, three Greyhound hurdlers forced their way into the finals. Senior
Keri Ertel, a former IU student-athlete herself, crashed the party in the women's 60-meter hurdles final, taking fifth place with a time of 8.91.
Â
A pair Greyhound men also secured a finals spot in a crowded field. Junior
Dallas Ford crossed in 8.30 seconds to take fourth, while sophomore
Sam DeWitt, who set a PR of 8.36 in the prelims, placed sixth in the finals with a time of 8.40 seconds.
Â

Â
The Hounds occupied the top four spots in the women's pole vault, with
Lauren Joseph and
Brittney Clark each clearing 3.59 meters to top the field. Joseph's mark was good for a season best.
Â
Highlights on the men's side included event wins from
