INDIANAPOLIS – In the final week of the indoor regular season, the UIndy track & teams were awarded three of the four GLVC Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors, announced Wednesday.
Brittney Clark,
Keri Ertel and
Brian Sales each earned their first honor this season, bringing the women's season total to 11 and the men their second.
Clark came off an impressive performance at the EIU Friday Night Special, claiming the women's pole vault by .15 meters over teammate
Lauren Joseph. Clark's 3.95-meter height was also only .02 meters off her own UIndy program record.
Ertel ran the next day at the STEEMER Showcase, competing in the women's 60-meter hurdles. The senior dropped .23 seconds from her prelims time, earning a second-place finish at 8.74 seconds. Both Ertel and Clark rank within Division II's top 25 in each of their respected events.
Sales' first honor of the season and second for the men came off a victory in the men's 400 meter Saturday, setting the top mark in the event by .48 seconds. The Merriville, Ind., native finished on a final time of 48.71, a second and a half off the program record.
The Greyhound track & field teams will host the GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend. The meet kicks off with the women's pentathlon at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29 and ends with the team awards on Sunday evening, March 1.
