NEW ORLEANS – The U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the All-Region honorees for the 2019 NCAA Division II indoor track & field season on Monday, placing five Greyhounds across seven different events.
Brian Sales (400) was the only member of the men's team to receive the honor, while the women were represented by
Lauren Bailey (3000, Â 5000),
Brittney Clark (pole vault),
Berenice Cleyet-Merle (800, mile) and
Keri Ertel (60m hurdles) made the exclusive list.
To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be one of the top-5 individuals in their events in their respective region. In addition, each member of a region's top-3 relay team was selected for the distinction. The eight regions used in NCAA DII are the Atlantic Region, Central Region, East Region, Midwest Region, South Region, South Central Region, Southeast Region and West Region. The GLVC represents the Midwest Reigon.
All five student-athletes made their way onto the podium over the weekend at the GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championships, where UIndy held a second-place finish for the men and earned the bronze-medal for the women as a team. Clark (pole vault), Cleyet-Merle (800, mile) and Bailey (5000) were awarded gold medals as event winners at the championships. Ertel (60m hurdles) and Sales (400) finished as the GLVC's runner-up in their events.
The 2019-2020 indoor season concludes next week at the 2019 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships, set for March 13-14 in Birmingham, Ala. National qualifiers are scheduled to be announced tomorrow and more information can be found right here at UIndyAthletics.com.
