UIndy sophomore sprinter and psychology major
Sheniya Brown shared her feelings about the recent cancellation of the outdoor track & field season in the GLVC's weekly Someone to Listen feature.
"I was truly devastated when I got the news. With this being my first year at UIndy, I had so much to prove this year. I was becoming stronger than ever and I had finally got completely healthy. I was finally starting to get the bond with my teammates that I've always wanted. I had that family feel, and that's something I've always wanted within a team.
"Having that all taken away so fast was terrible, especially because this was likely the last year I would be able to have a few of them as a teammate. We had so much to give this outdoor season and it sucks that we won't be able to show all the work we've been putting in.
"Much love to all my teammates and my GLVC family. We're gonna get through this together."
Brown transferred from the University of Southern Indiana this academic year and became an immediate contributor on the UIndy track & field team. Her 2019-20 indoor season highlights include breaking the 17-year-old
program record in the women's 60-meter dash before taking bronze in the event at the
GLVC Championships.
