Hounds Take Third at Fall Regional

EUREKA, Mo. – The UIndy men golf team (305-300-) notched a third-place finish at the Midwest Regional at Fox Run Monday and Tuesday. Fifth-year senior Oliver Mast (73-71-76) led the way, sharing the runner-up spot and earning all-tournament honors among the region's best.

The tournament's 96 golfers battled wet and windy conditions on Monday that would eventually halt play midway through round two. The teams resumed second-round play Tuesday before finally finishing up Tuesday evening.

McKendree jumped into first place with a final-round 286 (-2), six strokes ahead of runner-up Southern Indiana and 14 ahead of both UIndy and UMSL.

Competing in the final group Tuesday, Mast ended his week at +4, three back of medalist Phasin Vichitcharoenpaisarn of McKendree. Keegan Bronnenberg (74-74-74) finished at +6 to share fifth place, earning his third all-tournament nod in as many events this fall.

Newcomer CJ Jones tied for 25th at +14. Ian Carroll (+23) and Jacob Nickell (+26) rounded out the team scoring, while Cam Carroll (+15) finished at T-32 in his first action of the season.
