INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis women's soccer team has been placed in the No. 5 spot of the Midwest Region in the first edition of the NCAA DII Regional Rankings, announced by NCAA officials.
The Greyhounds (9-2-2) sit behind Grand Valley State (No. 1), Ashland (No. 2), Ferris State (No. 3) and Saginaw Valley (No. 4) in the rankings. However, UIndy is the top-ranked team from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, riding above both McKendree (No. 6) and Truman (No. 9).
Fifty-six teams will qualify for this year's championship, with the top eight team from the Midwest Region earning a berth. Postseason action is set to begin with the first round kicking off on Nov. 18 and No. 19 at the higher-seed's respective campus.
The Hounds return to the field on Friday for a road conference clash against Lindenwood beginning at 6 p.m.
