Men's Lax Trio Named Preseason All-Americans

INDIANAPOLIS – With the new campaign right around the corner, the awards have started for UIndy men's lacrosse after USA Lacrosse Magazine's Division II Men's Preseason All-Americans were announced on Monday.  Kyle Basch, Drew Billig and Dougie Crawford represented the Greyhounds among the nation's best.

Basch earned First Team honors after being named a Second Team All-American last season.  The GLVC Specialist of the Year picked up 37 ground balls while causing 15 turnovers.  As a junior, he led the nation in caused turnovers per game at three while ranking 15th in ground balls per game, also at three.

Billig picked up Second Team honors after ranking sixth in the nation in points per game last season.  The First Team All-GLVC selection tallied 42 points on the year with 19 goals and 23 assists.  A native of Brighton, MI, Billig eclipsed 100 career points last season, currently sitting at 109 points.  He is the fifth player in program history to reach the mark.

Crawford was named to the Third Team after a standout freshman campaign.  The defenseman caused 16 turnovers while corralling 25 ground balls.  The Hounds defense ranked in the Top 10 last season with a mark of 10.77 caused turnovers per game.

UIndy paced the Great Lakes Valley Conference with three preseason All-America selections.  Rockhurst's attackman Sam Lindahl was named to the Third Team.

The Hounds were one of ten institutions to have multiple selections.  2021 National Champion LeMoyne tabbed a nations-best six honorees.

The 2021 campaign begins on Saturday, February 5 at Lenoir-Rhyne who picked up four honors.  UIndy's home opener comes on Saturday, February 26 against Seton Hill.
