AUSTIN, Texas— University of Indianapolis soccer standout
Dimitrios Karousos was named Thursday to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Men's Soccer Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The UIndy goalkeeper garnered Second Team laurels on the prestigious list, after earning third-team accolades last season. He joins Ryan Barnett (2011-12) as the only two-time Academic All-Americans in program history.
Selected based on combined success in the classroom and on the pitch, Karousos owns a 3.82 GPA as a Physics major. The Athens, Greece product ranks seventh in the nation in goals against average and eighth in shutouts, leading the Greyhounds to a school-record 18 wins and a second straight national semifinal appearance.
Currently positioned seventh in the latest DII coaches poll, the Hounds take on No. 5-ranked Charleston tonight at 10 p.m. ET with a trip to the national championship game on the line.
