WLAX Climbs to #4 Following Top-5 Win

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - After traveling east to North Carolina for a dominant victory over a top-five ranked opponent, the UIndy women's lacrosse team (2-0, 0-0 GLVC) received their highest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association ranking in program history at the No. 4 spot, released Monday. The Greyhounds moved up two spots from the last poll after providing a double-digit victory on the road against then No. 4 Queen (N.C.). US Lacrosse Magazine, presented by Nike Lacrosse, placed the Hounds second overall on their top-20 release on Monday.

The Greyhounds received three first-place votes, tied as the second-high team total in that category. Prior to Monday, the Hounds' highest mark was their last ranking at No. 6. After two games so far this season, Sarah Klein has led the team in points, scoring eight goals on nine shots along with her five assists. Abigail Lagos currently hits as UIndy's leading scorer this season, knocking in 10 goals so far this season including a seven-goal performance against No. 4 Queens on Saturday.

The Greyhounds have already had players receive national recognition in the early season, Peyton Romig being awarded DII Player of the Week after her 12 draw controls against then No. 22 Concordia-St. Paul. Romig currently leads all DII student-athletes with the best draw controls per game average.

UIndy isn't the only GLVC team in the DII rankings, Lindenwood continuing to hold a firm stance in the No. 2 spot overall. The Lions also hold a 2-0 record this season, also garnering three first-place votes.

The Greyhounds will square off with Findlay next weekend in Key Stadium, looking to continue their win streak against the Oilers. That game will take place on March 6 at 12 p.m.
