BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – As announced here on UIndyAthletics.com last week, Greyhound student-athletes
Lauren Bailey,
Brittney Clark,
Berenice Cleyet-Merle and
Ben Nagel will be competing at the 2021 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships. The national meet will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala., March 11-13, with the Greyhounds first competing Friday afternoon.
Â
The quartet combined to qualify in five events, with Bailey making the cut in both the 3K and 5K races. Cleyet-Merle and Nagel will run the 800, while Clark will compete in the pole vault. The three UIndy women are making a return trip to Indoor Nationals, while Nagel will be making his first appearance.
Â
UIndy hoping is hoping for big points this weekend, especially from the women's side. Both Bailey (5K) and Cleyet-Merle (800) will carry a top DII time into the meet, with Bailey also ranking third in the nation in the 3K. Nagel, meanwhile, is ranked fifth in the men's 800, and Clark is tied for 12th in the women's pole vault.
