KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After kicking off the season with a perfect start, the UIndy men's soccer team (3-0, 3-0 GLVC) has been recognized by the United Soccer Coaches with their highest ranking of all-time at the No. 2 spot in their Division II Spring Rankings on Tuesday.
The Greyhounds have started the season hot, snagging wins in their first three games against GLVC programs. The Hounds downed McKendree in their only home game so far to open the season, and then struck down both Southern Indiana and Lewis on the road. The Hounds have only trailed in a game one time this season, where the Flyers netted an early goal before UIndy rattled off three unanswered scores in four minutes of game time.
The Hounds' have utilized
Alejandro Steinwascher has one of their main focal points on the offensive end, the junior tallying a team-high seven points in the young season with his three goals and one assist.
Cole Rainwater has maximized his new time in the lineup this season, scoring a pair of goals already, including a game-winner against Southern Indiana.
Dimitrios Karousos has collected a shutout in the three wins already, saving two shots on goal as well.
Last season, the Greyhounds achieved their farthest run in the NCAA Tournament in program history, reaching the semifinals to finish as the No. 4 team in the nation. United Soccer Coaches college rankings, released every other Tuesday during the regular season, are an indicator of the week-to-week status of qualified programs. The only other GLVC program inside the poll's top-25, sitting as the No. 5 team in DII with their 4-0 record.
