Hounds Emerge Back Into USILA Top-10

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The UIndy men's lacrosse team (7-1, 7-1 GLVC) moved up one spot in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association in the recent Roaches Poll for Division II, the organization announced on Monday night. Despite not hitting the field last week, the Hounds' recent games were enough convincing to maintain among the best in the nation to round out the top-10 at the No. 10 spot.

UIndy currently holds three student-athletes with 20 or more points this season, Drew Billig's 15 assists with his dozen goals totals to a team-leading 27 points. Austin Barnett has been the team's No. 1 protector at the goal, the senior currently ranked ninth in the nation in his 8.41 goals against average. Barnett's save average was also boosted in the last couple weeks, his program-record 20 saves against No. 15 Maryville now puts him third in the conference with 9.75 saves per game. The Greyhounds do rank among the top-10 teams in the nation in a handful of statistical categories, including the fourth-best man-up offense (converting on 54-percent of situations) and causing the eighth-most turnovers per contest (11.62).

The recent rankings still have to other GLVC programs in the top-20, No. 9 Lindenwood still the best listed team at this point in the regular season. After the Greyhounds swept the Saints in their last set of games the other week, No. 16 Maryville still hangs inside the top-20 programs.

The Hounds have only one contest this week, taking on an away contest rematch against Rockhurst. The Greyhounds defeated the Hawks back in early March 13-8 at Key Stadium when both teams were ranked, but Rockhurst will look to shake up the season standings when UIndy visits on April 17 at 1 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo.
