Greyhounds Back to NCAA Quarterfinal

HICKORY, N.C. - The UIndy men's lacrosse team makes their final preparations for the upcoming 2021 NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Championship after earning a No. 3 rank in the South Region. The Greyhounds will face off against fifth-ranked, second-seeded Wingate in the NCAA Quarterfinal round on Sunday, May 16 at 4 p.m. There will be no on-site ticket sales for the contest.

The tournament kicks off later today with two first round contests, one in each region, the winners moving on to face the top seeds on Sunday. The quarterfinal rounds will all take place on Sunday, May 16, pairs of games scheduled at 1 and 4 p.m. The winners from each quarterfinal will advance to the semifinals on Sunday, May 23, each team playing at 1 p.m. The South Region will take place at Lenoir-Rhyne University while the North participates at Mercyhurst University.

The national championship will take place on Sunday, May 30 at Rentschier Field in East Hardford, Conn., at 1 p.m. A run for the Hounds to the national championship would be the first berth in program history, the Greyhounds advancing to the semifinal round once during their tenure in the 2019 season.

The Hounds won the GLVC Championship last weekend by taking down first-seeded Lindenwood, hoisting the trophy for the third-straight season. Their 10-9 victory was their third contest in a row where the outcome was decided by two goals or less. Austin Barnett tallied double-digit saves in both of the GLVC Tournament games the Greyhounds took place in, preventing 15 scores against the Lions in the title game.
