EVANSVILLE, Ind. – UIndy student-athletes Kenzee Smith, Hallie Waters and Gianni Iannantone garnered national recognition Wednesday with the release of the 2021 Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association's All-America softball teams. Smith picked up first-team accolades, while Waters was named to the third team and Iannantone earned honorable mention.
 
Smith continues to add to an impressive list of postseason laurels, highlighted by her recently-received Division II National Freshman of the Year honor. The Indy native amassed 23 wins in the circle this spring, good for seventh in Division II. She also ranked in the top 25 in the nation in ERA, strikeouts, complete games and hits allowed per game.
 
Waters represented the other half of one of the most dominating pitching duos in the country. The senior out of Boonville, Ind., was voted both the GLVC and the Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year, racking up 21 wins – good for 12th in Division II.
 
Meanwhile, Iannantone was voted the GLVC Player of the Year after leading the league in both hits and RBIs. The Orland Hills, Ill., product currently ranks fourth all-time on the school's career RBI list.
 
This is the 14th season of the All-America program, which is selected by CoSIDA members from schools playing in NCAA Division II, and fifth year in which the program was solely sponsored by the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association. UIndy's 15 selections since 2007 are good for the third most in Division II.
