Streaming Coverage Announced for GLVC Outdoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS - The GLVC Sports Network (GLVCSN) has announced its coverage of the 2021 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will take place at Allgood-Bailey Stadium on the campus of Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri, May 6-8.

The 2021 event will mark the 24th year for the GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships and the sixth consecutive season it will be streamed live and free on all GLVCSN platforms.

This is the first GLVC Championship to be held at this site since it hosted back-to-back league meets in 2010 and 2011.

The meet will start on Thursday afternoon with the first half of the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon along with men's and women's hammer throw before the evening preliminaries of the 1,500-meter run. The first champions will be crowned later that evening in the 10,000-meter run.

Friday will be a full day of activity with the multi-events starting at 9 a.m., selected field event finals beginning at 1 p.m., and prelims of running events kicking off at 3:30. Friday's festivities will conclude with the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Championship Saturday starts at 9 a.m. with field events, and then running finals begin at 12 noon. The meet will close with the 4x400-meter relay around 3:30 p.m. with closing ceremonies around 4:30 p.m.

Fourteen men's and women's programs will be vying for the GLVC Championship, including Drury University, University of Illinois Springfield, University of Indianapolis, Lewis University, Lindenwood University, Maryville University, McKendree University, Missouri S&T, Quincy University, University of Southern Indiana, Southwest Baptist University, Truman State University, and William Jewell College.

In 2019, Indianapolis captured its league-best seventh men's title with 222 points, while McKendree (134 points) and Missouri S&T (133) finished second and third, respectively. Truman State (78.5) and Lewis (59.5) rounded out the top five.

On the women's side, Lewis captured its fourth consecutive and record 10th league title with the second-closest margin of victory with 180 points compared to runner-up UIndy's 179.5. McKendree (116 points) and Maryville (71) finished third and fourth, respectively, while host Truman (70.5) rounded out the top five.

The UIndy men have won a GLVC-record seven outdoor titles, followed by former league member SIU Edwardsville (5), Lewis (4), Missouri S&T (4), and McKendree (1). Lewis owns a league-record 10 women's crowns, while Indianapolis (7) and SIU Edwardsville (4) are the only other programs to win outdoor titles since the GLVC began sponsoring the sport in 1996.

GLVC track and field fans will be treated to a minimum of 20 hours of live and free coverage over the three-day span, with play-by-play by Tyler Madsen, who also handled those duties for this event in 2019. All running events will be broadcast during the meet, while select shots for long and high jump will be shown, as well as some pole vault action. Coverage of throwing events may be available on a separate video-only stream, depending on location and equipment limitations.

Following the conclusion of the meet, the GLVCSN will remain online to bring fans the GLVC Championships awards ceremony, which will honor the Track Athlete, Field Athlete, Freshman, and Coach of the Year on both the men's and women's side, along with the 2021 GLVC team champions.

A single-day admission is $10.00 for all spectators, while children 6 and under are admitted free. No admission will be charged for Thursday's events. In order to gain access to the stadium, spectators must be pre-registered through the head coach.

Live coverage can be seen by logging on to the GLVCSN's official website, GLVCSN.com, or on the GLVCSN iOS and Android mobile apps, as well as on the Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV OTT platforms. Live results can be found on the official Championship homepage at GLVCsports.com/2021outdoor. Updates will also be included on the GLVC's official Twitter accounts (@GLVCsportts and @GLVCSN) with the hashtags, #GLVCtrack and #GLVCchamps.
