AUSTIN, Texas – University of Indianapolis soccer standout
Dimitrios Karousos was named Tuesday to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Men's Soccer Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The UIndy goalkeeper garnered Third Team laurels on the prestigious list, earning just the sixth Academic All-America® award in program history.
Selected based on combined success in the classroom and on the pitch, Karousos owns a 3.85 GPA as a Physics grad student while minoring in both Math and Computer Science. The Athens, Greece product led the nation with 10 shutouts on the year, leading the Greyhounds to a 13-0-4 record for their first-ever unbeaten season. He was named All-GLVC First Team as well as the sports' GLVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Karousos is the first UIndy men's soccer player to earn Academic All-America® honors since 2018 (Josh Mahon). He joins Mahon, Jacob Meyer (2015), Brendan Widau (2015) and Ryan Barnett (2011, '12) as the only Academic All-Americans in program history.
