INDIANAPOLIS – Sophomore safety Michael Brown and freshman wide receiver/returner Markez Gillam have been selected as the GLVC Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively,  the league office announced Monday. 

 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Michael Brown | Sophomore
DB | Indianapolis
Major: Exercise Science
Team Results: 52-38 W vs. Quincy (10/22)

• Amassed career-high 14 tackles and two interceptions
• Earned second INT when QU was at 2nd & Goal late in fourth quarter while trailing by just 7, returning it 54 yards to setup decisive UIndy TD drive
• Credited with three passes defended, one forced fumble, and one pass break-up
• Earns first career Defensive Player of the Week Award
• Last Greyhounds' Defensive Player of the Week: Dylan Shelton (10/10/22)

 
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Markez Gillam | Freshman

Major: Business Management & Administration
Team Results: 52-38 W vs. Quincy (10/22)

• Totaled 123 kickoff return yards, averaging 41.0 per return on three attempts
• Returned one kickoff 88 yards for touchdown late in first quarter, which was second-longest return in GLVC this season
• Added 15-yd reception and 3-yd rush to finish with 141 all-purpose yards
• Earns first career Special Teams Player of the Week Award
