UIndy Vaults into Directors’ Cup Top 10

CLEVELAND– With stellar showings in four recently-completed winter championships, the University of Indianapolis climbed to No. 6 the latest LEARFIELD Directors' Cup Division II standings, released Thursday. The Greyhounds springboarded 25 spots from the final fall standings, jumping from 31st and into the top 10.

The Directors' Cup honors institutions maintaining a broad-based athletics program, achieving success in many sports, both men's and women's, with points awarded based on each institution's finish at NCAA Championships. UIndy is one of only three Division II institutions in the country that can claim an active streak of 13 consecutive top-20 finishes in the Cup standings.

Adding to the total of 133 points amassed by the UIndy soccer teams in the fall, UIndy piled on a combined 319 points from women's swimming & diving (2nd at the NCAA Championships), men's swimming & diving (3rd), wrestling (6th) and women's indoor track & field (7th). The latest sum represents the second-highest winter total in school history and most since 2003-04.

UIndy's current overall score of 452 points puts it first among all GLVC schools, followed by Drury University (331 pts, 17th place), Lewis University (261, 33rd) and McKendree University (229, 42nd), et al. Grand Valley State University sits in first place with 754 points.
