INDIANAPOLIS—The UIndy men's golf team finds itself in an enviable position after day 1 of the 2022 GLVC Championships, being held this weekend at Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis. Tied for third place through 36 holes, the Greyhounds (+11) look to remain in top-four spot after Saturday's final round of stroke play to advance the medal/match play semifinals on Sunday.
Fifth-year senior
Oliver Mast leads to way for UIndy. The reigning GLVC Player of the Year carded rounds of 71 and 72 Friday to sit at -1, good for a share of fourth place. He currently sits six back of leader Joel Sylven of UMSL and just two back of second.
Senior
Jacob Nickell (72-73), playing in his first GLVC Championships, is in ninth place at +1.
Cam Carroll (+5) is tied for 17th,
CJ Jones (+6) is tied for 22nd, and
Keegan Bronnenberg (+10) in is 36th.
Missouri-St. Louis authored a great opening day, topping the team leaderboard at -5. McKendree sits in second at +6, while Missouri S&T is tied for third with UIndy at +11. Southern Indiana sits at +17 and is looking to climb out of the fifth-place spot.
Tee times tomorrow begin at 8 a.m. ET, with the first Hound scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. UIndy has qualified for match play each year since the conference adopted the current format in 2012.
