GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2022 At-Large Academic All-America® teams on Tuesday with the University of Indianapolis garnering two honorees. Cade Hammond of men's swimming and diving earned First Team honors while Oliver Mast of men's golf was named to the Second Team.
Hammond is the sixth Greyhound in men's swimming and diving history to earn the distinction and the first since two-time recipient Payton Staman in 2019 and 2020.
The Brighton, Michigan native was crowned the 2022 NCAA DII National Champion in the men's one-meter diving event and also placed fourth in the three-meter event at this year's Championships. Last season, he was the DII runner-up in the one-meter and over his career has claimed a pair of second place finishes in the one-meter at the GLVC Championships. His success on the diving board and in the classroom has helped him earn back-to-back CSCAA Scholar All-America honors in both 2020 and 2021. The junior is studying Criminal Justice with a 3.73 GPA.
Mast remains the only Greyhound in men's golf history with CoSIDA Academic All-American on his resume, repeating after a Third Team selection last year.
Mast set a pair of school records back in early April with a single round of 63 and a 54-hole score of -15 to win the West Liberty Invite. He finished tied for ninth individually at the 2022 DII National Championship and helped lead UIndy as a team to a National Semifinal appearance in 2021. He was a recipient of the 2021 GLVC Paragon Award which selects one male and female student-athlete in the conference based upon "academic excellence, athletic ability and achievement, character and leadership". Mast tallied a 3.70 undergrad GPA (Business Administration) and holds a 4.00 graduate GPA (Strategic Leadership & Design).
Twenty members of the CoSIDA Academic All-America ® Division II men's at-large teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 17 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.96.
The Division II Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Division II Academic All-America program.
