Gavin Sukup was announced as one of 38 players nominated for the 2023 Harlon Hill Trophy, giving annually to the Division II College Football Player of the Year. Sukup is one of only 10 Super Region 3 candidates and one of just eight sophomores overall.

The sports information directors at the 161 NCAA Division II football-playing institutions nominate and vote on the prestigous award. The 38 initial candidates will be placed on regional ballots and the top two players from each of the four NCAA regions will advance to the national ballot when regional voting concludes on Monday, Nov. 27.

The winner of the 2024 award will be announced on Friday, Dec. 15 and the winner will be honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club awards banquet on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024.

Sukup was
recently announced as the 2023 GLVC Offensive Player of the Year and member of the All-GLVC First Team. The Seward, Neb., native QB'd UIndy to a 9-2 season, a conference championship and an NCAA DII playoff berth. He topped the GLVC is most major passing categories, including yards, touchdowns and completion percentage. A three-time GLVC Offensive Player of the Week honoree, Sukup also ranked eighth in all of Division II in passing efficiency.
