tINDIANAPOLIS -Â The University of Indianapolis men's soccer team had three players named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, released on Tuesday afternoon.
Bobby Turner,
Pierre Lurot, and
Owen Atkison were included.
To be eligible for nomination to the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, must be a starter or an important reserve and have appeared in at least 50 percent of their team's contests. Academic All-District honoree advance to the Academic All-America ballot.
Turner, a junior, earned a 3.518 GPA while studying Sport Management. The Liverpool, England native has participated in all 20 matches while starting in 19 of them. With a total of 1,740 minutes, Turner has a team high of five goals and two assists. His efforts earned him a spot on the ALL-GLVCÂ Third Team and on the GLVC All-Tournament Team.Â
Lurot was the next Greyhound to be mentioned. The junior from Bourges, France is studying Sport Management and has a GPA of 3.78. Lurot has started in every match, only coming to the sideline for nine minutes the whole season. He has one goal and two assists on the season. Lurot was named to the All-GLVC First Team and the GLVC All-Tournament Team.
Atkison is the last Hound honored. The graduate student has accumulated a 3.378 GPA, while working on his degree in Finance. Similarly, the Franklin, Ind., native has played in all 20 contests and started in 12. Atkison has scored four goals for the Greyhounds with one assist. He was also named to the All-GLVC Third Team.
The trio and their UIndy teammates host the NCAA Regional next weekend, hosting Lewis on Friday, Dec. 1 at 3 p.m.
