TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Treyton Arnold broke his own indoor pole vault school record on Saturday afternoon as the University of Indianapolis men's and women's indoor track and field teams split forces in another action-filled weekend of competition. A handful of distance runners took their talents to the Lewis Invitational up in Chicago while many made a short trip west to Terre Haute, Ind., for the Blue-White Classic hosted by Indiana State University.
Â
LEWIS INVITATIONAL
A total of eight student-athletes recorded finishing times up in Chicago for the Hounds in a handful of distance events on Friday evening.
Â
For the men,
Abdelouakil Mustapha won the 800 meters and collected a provisional mark in the process after he tallied an impressive time of 1:51.37.
Harnoor Dosanjh also clocked a top-10 finish in the event after ending in eighth (1:56.95). In the 3000m, the duo of
Lucas Liard and
AJ Goecker took the track with Liard notching third (8:29.63) and Goecker ninth (8:42.64). Finally,
Devon Whitaker was the lone Greyhound in the mile which saw him end in 15th at 4:25.74.
Â
Over on the women's side,
Melissa Spencer and
Brianna Lawson raced in the mile and each notched top-10 marks. Spencer added a sixth-place finish (5:02.06) while Lawson earned ninth (5:08.91). Finally,
Mariah Davis competed in the 3000m and tallied 18th (10:56.98).
Â
BLUE-WHITE CLASSIC
A large majority of the team made the trip over to Indiana State University to compete on Saturday afternoon in Terre Haute, Ind. In the final team rankings, the men collected second place with 106 points while the women ended in third with 80.
Â
The biggest headline for UIndy this afternoon came from
Treyton Arnold, who broke the school record (once again) in the pole vault after he cleared a new PR and hit a provo of 5m. While Arnold did dominate the rest of the field, his teammate
Cade Priddy ended tied for second in the event after he went over the bar at 4.51m while
Nolan Anderson ended in fourth (4.36m).
Â
While Arnold was the only top finisher for the men, the Hounds still had a handful of solid performances and many of which were inside the top five. Most notably,
Alexander Brown-Baez grabbed second in the 200 meter (23.19) and also proceeded to notch third in the 400 meter (51.61).
Ndubisi Eze (60 meter hurdles, 8.38) and
Keeton Adams (shot put, provo of 16.82m) also added second-place finishes in their respective event.
Â
Over on the women's side, the Hounds grabbed three winning marks with two coming from
Zoe Pentecost herself. While the impressive throw was not a new PR for her, Pentecost did hit a provo of 18.55m in her top toss in the weight throw. She also handled business in the shot put at 12.28m. The other top finish came from
Sabrina Robison in the pole vault after she cleared 4.01m for a new PR and provo.
Â
Much like the men's side, the women also landed a handful of student-athletes inside the top five of various events.
Hallie Montgomery grabbed the runner-up spot in the 60 meter (7.88) and also added third in the 200 meter (25.65).
Emily Sonderman earned the No. 3 spot in the 400 meter (1:00.28) while
Emily Bonser was inside the top-five in the weight throw at fourth (14.66m).
