Lengerich, Arnold Conclude Action on Final Day of DII Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, V.A. – The UIndy indoor track & field teams concluded action at the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships with a trio of notable accolades. Zoe Pentecost (women's weight throw) and Sabrina Robison (women's pole vault) were tabbed as All-Americans on Friday night while Ellie Lengerich broke the pentathlon school record on Saturday with a score of 3755.

SATURDAY
Lengerich kicked things off for the Hounds in the women's pentathlon as she faced a strong field of competition. She would end up finishing in ninth place overall with her school record mark, just barely missing out on the podium and All-America honors. Her best event was the 800 meters, where she corralled a fourth-place finish.

Arnold took the runway in the men's pole vault and corralled 10th place among the field of competitors. He would clear heights of 4.85 and 5.00 meters before bowing out of the event when attempting 5.10 meters, which would have been a school record.

FRIDAY
Pentecost got things started on day one for the Hounds in the women's weight throw. On her first toss of the afternoon, she landed a throw of 20.05 meters which ended up being her best of her six total attempts. This would eventually finish her in third place for a podium spot and All-America honors. Pentecost has now made the weight throw podium twice in her indoor career as she corralled a seventh-place finish last year.

The final two Hounds competing on Saturday were Robison and Brittney Clark in the women's pole vault. The strong duo held steady and cleared 3.95 meters which then raised the bar up to 4.05 meters. Clark would bow out at this height which eventually landed her in a tie for ninth, just barely missing the podium alongside All-America honors. As for Robison, she went over 4.05 meters on her first try and would eventually fall short trying 4.10 meters a little later. Despite this, she went on to notch fourth in the event and was tabbed as an All-American in the process.
