INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy men's lacrosse team slipped one spot to No. 5 in the most recent NCAA DII South Regional rankings, the NCAA announced on Wednesday. The poll represents the final rankings of the regular season before the NCAA announces the official 12-team field on Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
The Greyhounds are ranked fifth, remaining in position for their fourth consecutive trip to the postseason. The top six in each the North and South regions will secure a berth into this season's NCAA tournament, with first round action scheduled for Wednesday, May 10. UIndy boasts the best strength of schedule among South schools, while ranking second in performance indicator (PI) due to its contests against North mainstays Le Moyne, Mercyhurst, and Seton Hill.
Rollins and Wingate sit atop the South, as the No. 1 and 2 seeds will receive a bye to Sunday, May 14, where they will host the winners of Wednesday's contests.
