INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's lacrosse is heading back to the NCAA tournament, earning a berth in the 2023 field as announced Sunday evening. The Greyhounds, seeded sixth in the South Region, will seek revenge in Wednesday's first round game at Wingate. Game time will be announced soon.
Â
The Bulldogs defeated the Greyhounds back on April 22 in Wingate, N.C., 14-9. Wingate was ranked sixth in the latest USILA national poll, while UIndy was third.
"It's a great accomplishment to return to the NCAA tournament," said head coach
Greg Stocks. "I'm really proud of the work and effort put forth by the guys for achieving this. The leadership was a huge part of that."
Â
The selection marks the Hounds' fourth straight trip to the NCAA tournament, beginning the bracket on the road for the third consecutive postseason. UIndy advanced to the national semifinal back in 2019, becoming the fastest program in
NCAA DII history to win multiple tournament contests.
Â
The Greyhounds are 11-3 this season, including impressive wins at Mercyhurst and Seton Hill. The team hoarded the
GLVC postseason awards, with
Drew Billig earning Offensive Player of the Year,
Kyle Basch Defensive Player of the Year,
Caleb Parker Specialist of the Year, and Stocks Coach of the Year.
