AUSTIN, Texas – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced today their inaugural  2022-23 Academic All-America® women's tennis teams and the legendary pair of
Anna Novikova and
Sofia Sharonova have found their ways onto the list.
Novikova, after being an at-large selection
last season, now makes history as the first Greyhound to be selected to the newly formed All-America First Team. Her 3.88 GPA in Business Administration & Management was matched with grace and aggression on the court, helping lead the Greyhounds to their fourth straight GLVC title and another NCAA appearance. She ended her senior season with 19-7 record, with her leaving on a 9-0 mark to end her campaign, with back-to-back victories over the GLVC Player of the Year in straight sets.
Sharonova, another longstanding member of the Greyhounds, was named to the third team with a perfect 4.0 in Psychology. Much like Novikova, her excellence has been both on and off the court, earning a spot at the ITA Cup alongside Novikova for doubles after a ITA Midwest Regional doubles victory. She departs UIndy with a 9-4 senior season singles record with a 15-9 doubles mark.
