INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy men's and women's track and field teams opened their 2024-25 season by hosting the Scott Fangman Invitational. The meet was a two-day affair featuring teams from DePauw, Evansville, IU-Indianapolis, Marian, McKendree, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, and Webster.

INS & OUTS
The Hounds opened the weekend with the women's pentathlon and men's heptathlon.
Ellie Lengerich won the pentathlon with 3693 points. Lengerich beat out the competition by placing first in the high jump, shot put, and 800m. For the men,
Tyler Nolan (3901) and
Aiden DeLaTorre (3748) placed third and fourth, respectively.
Emily Sonderman beat out the competition in the 400m after clocking 55.77. In the mile, Kailyn Casner placed first with a time of 5:54.03.
Madison Schofield won the 60m dash in a photo finish. Schofield (8.06) was .004 seconds quicker than McKendree's Amber Cotton. For the men, newcomers
Conyer Wilson (9:09.83) and
Carlos Rodriguez (9:20.23) placed third and fourth in the 3000m, respectively. UIndy's 4x400m women's team took first place at the meet with a time of 4:04.65.
In the pole vault, MacKenzie VanBibber (3.57) placed second in the women's competition and Keywaun Taylor (4.03m) finished third in the men's.
Lengerich won the long jump after reaching 5.53m, teammate Joanna Field placed third with 5.19m.
Alex Meyer placed second on the men's side after jumping for 7.00m.
Tyje Elias took on the triple jump (12.93m) and long jump (6.56m), placing second and third respectively.
Zoe Pentecost led the Greyhound throwers with a first-place finish in the weight throw. The reigning national champion finished with a mark of 18.83m in her first outing this season.
Cameron Smith placed second in the men's weight throw with 18.12m. In the shot put,
Hannah Dart (12.58m) finished and teammate
Faith Hensel (12.19m) took third.
