Greyhounds Lead Wire-to-Wire, Remain Perfect Against Montevallo

Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 9 UIndy men's lacrosse team led wire-to-wire on Sunday en route to a 13-6 victory at Montevallo, picking up its second straight win to open the 2024 season.
 
Senior Owain Braddock netted a career-high four goals in the win, while KC Carlson made six saves between the pipes.
 
The Greyhounds have now won all six meetings with the Falcons in their history, dating back to 2018.
 
INS & OUTS
UIndy rattled off the first seven goals of the afternoon before Montevallo struck late in the second quarter. Six different Greyhounds scored in the opening stretch, including Nathan Lam, who tallied the game's first goal just over two minutes after the first whistle.
 
Braddock was the culprit who netted multiple goals, as he did in the second half.
 
Beau Howard joined in on the fun during the third quarter, scoring his first goal of the season after recording seven as a rookie last season. Additionally, first-year transfer Sam Puzevic tallied two scores for the second straight game to begin his UIndy career.
 
Montevallo coughed up possession a whopping 31 times, with the Greyhounds being credited for 14 caused turnovers. Freshman Jason Davide led all players with three CTOs, while four others recorded two.
 
INSIDE THE BOX
- Caleb Parker secured another eight faceoff wins on Sunday, finishing with six ground balls and one goal. His final win at the x cemented the senior's position at the top of the program's all-time list in the category.
- Back for his second game since missing the entirety of the 2023 season, Jack Sullivan scooped up four more ground balls in the win and added a pair of caused turnovers.
- Newcomer Justin Williams recorded three points, adding one goal to a pair of helpers.
- UIndy went 24-for-27 on the clear attempt, while causing four turnovers in 20 chances on the ride.
 
UP NEXT
The Greyhounds have one more road contest before their home opener, visiting defending national champion and top-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne next Sunday, Feb. 11, in Hickory, N.C.
 
The programs split their previous two meetings back in 2022, with UIndy earning a season-opening victory over the Bears on the road.
