INDIANAPOLIS – For the second year in a row, the University of Indianapolis baseball team will make a run at the NCAA tournament. The Hounds, who went 34-16 in the regular season and 1-2 in the GLVC tournament have earned the No. 2-seed and hosting rights for the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional.
The Greyhounds who earned an at-large big are welcoming all three midwest conference champions. They will battle the G-MAC's champion in Trevecca Nazarene (32-21) on Thursday, May 16 at 11 a.m. at Greyhound Park. The other two teams feature Maryville (37-17) who captured the GLVC title early Sunday and then Grand Valley State who dethroned the No. 1-seed in the region in Saginaw Valley State to claim the GLIAC touranment title.Â

The birth marks the 17th overall in program history, with the Greyhounds holding a 27-32 record within tournament play. The Hounds had a historic run last season, sweeping both the regional and super regional on route to their third regional crown in program history, marking the third time that skipper
Al Ready has accomplished such a feat, doing it as a member of the 2000 squad and an assistant coach for the 2012 team.

Ready recently garnered GLVC Coach of the Year honors after the team snagged the GLVC regular season title. He was joined by two All-GLVC first-team selections in
Diego Cardenas and
E.J. White.
Cole Hampton and
Caleb Vaughn snagged spots on the All-GLVC second team while
Easton Good was an honorable mention.
