INDIANAPOLIS – There were two words to describe Saturday's doubleheader. Chase. Mason.
Mason hit back-to-back walk-offs in games two and three of this weekend's four-game series against Upper Iowa. These are the first two walk-off hits for Mason in his Greyhound career, UIndy's second walk-off of the 2026 season, and the team's first walk-off hit since Luke Smock's last season against Davenport.
This is the first four-game series the Greyhounds and the Peacocks have played in the program history of both squads.Â
GAME 1 | UIndy 4, Upper Iowa 3
Game one on Saturday began as much of a pitcher's duel with both pitchers going five innings and each allowing two runs with six strikeouts a piece. Ayden Tran was on the bump for the eighth time this season, and today's five inning performance marked the fifth time he's thrown at least five innings of action.
Both teams traded a pair of runs in the third inning with the Peacocks scoring first on a two-run home run to left field from Gabe Bombardier, before Bret Perry faked a bunt attempt and drove in two runners with a single up the middle to square the game at two after three.
The next three innings only saw six total hits from the two teams combined, in large part to strong relief efforts from Drake Downing and Landon Boisen. Downing limited the Peacocks to only one run in the seventh inning after striking out Kyle Hrncir with a runner stranded on third.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, the Hounds needed two runs to steal a win from Upper Iowa, and did just that with Chase Mason's RBI infield single leading to an error by the Peacocks' shortstop bringing home both Joey Humphrey, Luke Smock and the team's first win of the weekend.

GAME 2 | UIndy 5, Upper Iowa 4
Saturday's second game was similar to the first with only three pitchers making an appearance between both teams.
Kaleb Marrs threw a complete game for the second time this season, with his other complete game outing coming against
Southwest Baptist. But on the other side of game two's duel was two-way player Kyle Hrncir who struck out 10 Greyhounds over 5 ? innings.
The Greyhounds grabbed the first two runs of the game on a double steal in the first that scored
Gavin Duran, and had to wait four innings until the game's second run when
Austin Bode made a statement in his first game back with UIndy, adding home run number 11 to his name this season.
Upper Iowa managed to score four of the game's next five runs in the sixth and seventh to take a 4-3 lead headed into the bottom of the seventh.
Once again the Greyhounds were down to a half inning to find two runs to snatch its second walk-off win of the day.
Bret Perry got on base to lead off the half inning, and was later brought home on a wild pitch to knot the game at four.
Mason capped off the late inning comeback again with a pop fly to right field which was dropped by the Peacocks' Cael Luzum, allowing Bode to go home and score the game's winning run for UIndy win number two on the day.
