WINGATE, N.C. – On the same day they were set to start the GLVC tournament, which has now been pushed back a day due to weather, the UIndy baseball team leaped to No. 10 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
The Hounds ended the regular season winning eight of their last 10 including a conference defining sweep of the Maryville Saints and a big road win at Findlay.
The Greyhounds begin their hunt for their seventh GLVC Championship as they enter the tournament as the No. 1-seed. With that seed they face an incredibly familiar foe in the Lewis Flyers in the first-round tomorrow, Thursday May 8 in Marion, Ill. The Hounds and Flyers play closer for day one of the tournament, starting at 6 p.m. ET.
The Hounds and Flyers recently split a four-game set in Romeoville, with the finale on the Flyers' Senior Day coming with a little bit of Cardiac Canines flair as the Hounds came back from a seven-run deficit to capture victory. Both teams met in the first round of last year's bracket as the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds with the Hounds getting the best of then pitcher of the year Jake Karaba to send them to the next round.
